ITINERARY:
We will leave the city of Cusco in our private tourist van and go to the Incan Archeological Site of MORAY. Moray is composed of deep, concentric circular terraces which the Incas used as an agricultural laboratory. It is said that this is where they acclimatized food crops and medicinal plants which were brought here from all over their vast Empire. These plants were adapted to thrive at varying elevations and in different climatic zones. You will enjoy a 40-minute guided tour of the site. Next we will head into the Colonial village of MARAS where you can see the coats-of-arms of the transplanted Incan nobility carved into the doorways of these centuries-old houses. The next stop will be the Salt Mines of MARAS. More than 3000 salt water pools are still producing salt, as they have been since pre-Inca times. Once again, you will enjoy a 40-minute guided tour of this interesting and scenic location, before you head back to the city of Cusco.
